When the dragon saw that he had been cast down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. But the woman was given two wings of a giant eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time from the presence of the serpent. So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood (Revelation 12: 13-15).
“Woman” in Genesis, the gospels, and here in Revelation refers to an immaculate conception who is either the Old Eve or Mary who is the New Eve. The serpent of Revelation is the same serpent as in the Garden of Eden. He has been cast out of heaven to the earth for his rebellion and arrogance. Enraged, he tries to overwhelm Mary and her offspring with “a flood of water” that he spews out of his mouth. Of course, it is words that come out of mouths. Words are invisible, so in order to visualize them, they are depicted in John’s vision as water. The flow of water, like a flow of words, can either be beneficial or harmful. In order to make clear that these are harmful words, the water is depicted as a dangerous flood attempting to carry away the Woman and her offspring who are the disciples of Jesus Christ (Revelation 12:17). The serpent, “who was a liar from the beginning,” attempts to drown Mary and her offspring with a flood of lies just as he did the Old Eve and her offspring.
We are living in a time of lies. What is worse, we have the means to understand the Truth more deeply than ever before in human history yet we have chosen to believe nonsense. For all of human history the demons have worked to seduce humanity through the seven capital sins. That being accomplished in modern society where traditional moral norms are universally ignored and ridiculed, the demons have now turned to mocking us. We are so morally debased and intellectually corrupted, they know they can get us to believe anything, no matter how absurd.
The only thing that will save us from the serpent and his flood of lies is the true Mass where heaven is opened and entered by the High Priest on our behalf.
This blog will introduce a variety of threads that will eventually be brought together in an in-depth discussion of the symbolism and reality of the traditional Catholic Mass. There will be a significant amount of interesting science, biblical exegesis, and philosophical discussion along the way. Most people will never have heard these things before. Now and then, I may indulge myself with a post or two on a tangential topic.
Please be patient and enjoy.
